The Massage

Should I shower before my massage?

Yes and no. You don't need to necessarily shower right before your massage, unless you were just in an invigorating workout session. Though I do ask that you come to your appointments clean and free of fragranced personal care products.

Do I Have To Be Completely Undressed?

Feel free to undress to YOUR comfort level; some clients opt to keep their underwear/bra on, while others prefer to be nude. Your massage therapist will step out to allow you privacy while you get onto the massage table and cover yourself with a sheet.

If you decide to stay dressed, please wear form fitting, breathable attire (yoga pants/tank top or a short sleeve shirt). Keep in mind that this might limit the direct skin-to-skin contact and the full therapeutic benefits of the massage.

Regardless of your choice, your therapist will ensure you are appropriately covered at all times.

What Should I expect in my Massage?

Upon arrival, you'll complete a brief health history form, helping us understand your needs and ensuring your safety. I will then customize your session, addressing specific concerns such as muscle pain, stress, or tension. Don't worry if you're uncertain about what you need – I’m here to guide you. Before your massage, we'll have the chance to discuss your goals. The aim is to provide a personalized, relaxing, and rejuvenating experience tailored just for you.

The pressure isn’t enough? Temperature of table is too much? Music volume too high?

Don’t be afraid to speak up! This is YOUR session—and the experience is all yours. As your massage therapist I want you to enjoy every minute and benefit from your time with me as much as possible. If you would like anything changed—the pressure, areas worked, position, temperature, music, etc.—speak up! You will not hurt my feelings by asking for something that will make you feel more comfortable.

Can I request a Silent Massage Session?

Yes. That is doable! Just let me know when we are doing our verbal intake or even when scheduling. Also, volume of the music in the treatment room counts. So, if you need me to turn it down more, don't hesitate to ask. I will just be checking in with pressure from time to time to make sure all is well.

Is it okay to talk to the massage therapist during my massage?

If you want to talk and have a conversation, that is fine as well! Maybe we need to vent, or talking is grounding and comforting for you. Especially, when it's our first time working together. You can ask me questions, too!

I will follow your lead.

What if I forgot to shave?

No problem! I probably did too.

What If I Fall Asleep and Snore or Drool?

It is very common for clients to fall asleep during their massages. If you snore or drool, don’t worry. Massage Therapists have definitely seen this before and will not judge. We love seeing you so relaxed!

I woke up with a cold, Should I still come in?

A massage will likely just make you feel worse (due to stagnant lymph). If you are sick, you may get your therapist sick and pass it on to other clients that day. Even if you are giving less than a 24 hour notice, we prefer you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell, so let us know as soon as possible.

Can I Exercise after my massage?

Depending on which style of massage you get, typically it’s okay to exercise after your massage. Just listen to your body and what you feel is right. Don’t push it.

With Ashiatsu, it’s NOT recommended to do any heavy lifting or strenuous activity.
